      • High School wrestling practice begins Monday Nov. 26th at 4:00. 

      • Philip FCCLA is sending in $900.00 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Twenty members of Philip FCCLA went house to house on Halloween asking for a monetary donation in our “Trick or Treat for CF” project.  This is our 9th year doing this fundraiser in memory of our friend and member, Jennifer Nelson, who lost her life to CF in 2007.  Philip FCCLA has donated $7823.32 for CF in those 9 years. This year's chairmen were Tessa, Morgan, and Samantha.  Thank you to our supportive community and the Nelson family for the awesome supper after the trick or treating!

      • Dual Credit Students - Please see Mrs. DeJong about registering for Spring dual credit.  That application opened November 1st.

      • The Haakon School District is holding a competition with the Wall School District to stock the Country Cupboard Food Pantry for the Holiday Season.  PHS Student Council members are asking for your help to "can" the Wall School District by donating nonperishable food items. These items can be brought to your

    • Elementary child’s classrooms at school. (JH/HS boxes: 7th Mrs. Wheeler, 8th Mrs. Hand, 9th Mr. Hauk, 10th Mrs. Snook, 11th Mrs. Hansen and 12th Mrs. O'Connor) Items will be collected November 5th through November 15th. Please help us give back to our community and keep Wall from winning! NO EXPIRED FOOD PLEASE!

      But there is more!! The winning class (K-12 & Milesville) is competing against each

      other for a pizza party.  The class with the greatest number of donated items wins!!!

    • Scottie Stadium seats are available to order. They come in two sized, standard and deluxe (wider). Standard are $50 and Deluxe $60. Please see Kathy or Pat for an order form. First order will be sent in on November 1. Must be paid at time of order. Sponsored by HEA

     

     

    FOR SALE:  Philip Scotties Stadium Soft Seats - $10.00 – please bring cash to the HS office if you are interested in purchasing one.  These seats were donated to PHS. Proceeds will go into the athletic fund which is used for needs of the Scottie students.

Each Sunday night @ 7:00 PM, Low Lunch Balance Reminder messages through Campus will be sent out to all who have lunch/milk break charges.   Parents:  You should choose your delivery preference in your Portal - the Emergency messages will be school closing (weather related); lunch reminders are General Messages.  Call Pat or Kathy if you need help or have questions.  

South Dakota requires all 6th grade students to have:

  1. One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine on or after the 11th birthday
  2. One dose of Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine on or after the 11th birthday

Reminder to Parents

All Haakon School District residents that have children ages birth to 5 years old are encouraged to call the Philip Elementary Office (859-2001) to inform the school of their children’s names, date(s) of birth, age(s), parent’s names, current mailing address, and contact information. This information will be used to contact parents for Haakon School District’s child find/preschool screening that is held every year. With this data, the District will contact parents with information concerning this event. You may call Pat at 859-2001 in the elementary office Monday through Thursday. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

State B Wrestling Tickets are on sale NOW - the PHILIP SCOTTIES ticket order will be mailed January 26th!  Adult All Tournament - $45.00; Student (grades 1st-12th) General Admission all tournament ticket - $25.00 Kindergarten or younger are admitted free, but not necessarily provided a seat in the reserved section without a ticket.

High School Juniors and Seniors - The SD Highway Patrol and the American Legion are sponsoring a free Youth Trooper Academy to be held June 26-30, 2017.  Applications are due March 26th, and can be picked up in Mrs. DeJong's office.

High School Junior Boys - The 75th annual Boys State Convention will be held May 29-June 2 in Aberdeen.
 The online application is available at http://www.SouthDakotaBoysState.com and is due March 15th.

High School Juniors - Apply to attend the free West Central Electric Trip to Washington DC June 8-15.  See Mrs. DeJong for an application which is due no later than February 17th. 

Wednesday, April 19th - Meeting for all interested in going out for wrestling in 17-18 season meet at 12:23 in Mr. Donnelly's office.
